Pairing the ephemeral with the enduring, Pop Up Experimenta at Melbourne Art Fair 2010 threw photon street art up and onto one of Melbourne's most iconic buildings – the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton. A Melbourne cultural cornerstone – urban art, graffiti, whatever you call it – has always been associated with that special kind of Melbourne cool and now Experimenta plugs it in and powers it up, breathing some laneway love into the old building. The Experimenta Project Room was parked in an inglorious old shipping container, photocopying, leaving their mark on the old pile, and whiling away cool Melbourne nights under strings of reactive, ever changing paper lanterns.
